Greek Science- The Dawn and Death
of Science
During this unit, students will explore the beginning or roots
of true science. The science of the past was based on observations. The
Greeks would take this to the next step with their creation of
explanatory stories. Sadly, many Greeks did not take science
to the next step and perform experiments. So, the Greeks
would take the science of the past, observation, and add to this
the questioning of why and then hypothesize an answer. From
this you can see that the development of science itself is rooted
in the scientific method. However, science will have died
in Europe by the end of this unit and the knowledge of the ancients
will remain prominent for 1600 years.
