Me and My Scientist

            You are to construct a poster about you and a scientist.  You may pick any scientist from the list, or a scientist of your own choosing with approval from the teacher.  You will be comparing/contrasting yourself with a famous scientist from the past or present.  You will be researching about this scientist by using the Internet, books or any other informational source.

Requirements:

            1.  Use the piece of paper you were provided in class.

            2.  Draw a human outline in the center of the paper.  I suggest you draw this

outline lightly and leave space on each side for descriptions.

            3.  Divide the outline in half.  The left side will represent you, the right side will

represent your scientist.

            4.  Dress yourself and your scientist in the fashion/style that best represents

him/her.  Use colored pencils, markers, colored paper, fabric, etc.  Be

creative.

            5.  On the poster, you must use 5 of the following items to compare you with your

scientist.  You may use 2 more for EXTRA CREDIT

                        a.  personality characteristics

                        b.  early years/experiences

                        c.  education

                        d.  family

                        e.  successes or achievements

                        f.  unique experiences or events

                        g.  examples of hard work or effort

                        h.  famous quotes or words

                        i.  struggles, obstacles or hardships that have been overcome

                        j.  how this scientist and you have helped others

                        k. interesting facts

            6.  Each descriptor must be titled.

            7.  Each descriptor should be 3-4 sentences.

            8.  No pencil.  Use pen or even better, the computer.

            9.  Do not write small.  If you type (which I encourage) use 18-22 fonts.

            10.  PROOFREAD… grammatical and spelling errors will cost you points.

            Good use of space/Neatness/Visual Appeal/Color              20 Points

            Poster demonstrates knowledge of scientist                      20 points

            Comparisons/Contrasts are evident                                    20 points

            Title, Name and Hour are prominently displayed                    10 points

            Detractors:  Poor spelling or grammar
