Science of the Renaissance

Galileo...one man with an unbelievable amount of influence on science, society and future endeavors. To give so much credit to one man may seem a little extreme, but his investigations and insights about science would drive science for many centuries to come. Science would come to be reborn during this era. Experimentation, the next step in the scientific method, would gain prominence during the Renaissance. No longer would wisdom be based on the knowledge of the ancients. Instead, the pursuit of knowledge was based on finding out for yourself.

Other topics to be covered:

1. Empiricism vs. Rationalism
2. DaVinci and his desires to fly
3. The Copernican Heliocentric Solar System
4. The Galileo Trial and Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody
5. The Columbus Story
6. CONTACT: The movie and its relation to the Galileo Trial

a. Ockham's Razor
b. Should science do everything possible?
c. Proof vs. Faith and how they interact
